The Open Golf Championship

The brief
Acting for Sodexo Prestige Hospitality, provide social marketing support and live event broadcasting in the lead up to, during and post the Open Golf Championship at St Andrews, July 2010.

The objectives
Raise awareness and engagement levels of potential and existing Open Golf hospitality customers using social communication techniques and live broadcasting from the event.

The solution
Creation of a twitter (@Golfhospitality) and facebook account to build a community and actively engage with golf fans – focused around building excitement, conversations, sharing, gauging opinions and raising awareness. Throughout the event, facts, photos and videos were posted live – giving fans an exclusive sneaky peek behind the scenes and on the ground at the championship.

A flickr account provided fans a constant stream of high quality photos.

The results
A community of c1000 Open Golf Hospitality ‘fans’, actively engaging in conversations around hospitality elements and the championship itself. This will continue to be built on in the lead up to next year’s championship in July 2011.
